Luna Eclipse

I missed the eclipse, which was apparently really beautiful. Here is an image (from CNN) of the lunar eclipse as seen from Gaza City. Read more about the lunar eclipse and see more photos on the CNN site.

Was the moon large from Tel Aviv? It was really quite small in the UK

Some great shots of the eclipse.

My photos can be seen at http://ackworthborn.blogspot.com/2007/03/lunar-eclipse.html which includes links to photos on a number of DP blogs including this one.

It was quite large here in southwestern Ohio where I live and as bright as the moon ever was. I must have missed the eclipse too.

I missed it too! Damm it! :(

Small? Large? Isn't any apparent discrepancy in the moon's size simply an optical illusion?

Now forgive me if I'm being really stupid here, but isn't the essence of the eclipse that the moon is cast into shadow by the earth, thus becoming invisible? Then how come this CNN camera sees it?!

When I looked at the moon (way after the eclipse) it was big and bright and beautiful. But when I saw this pic on CNN I just had to borrow it - it's awesome! I was so upset that I missed it!!

I was so excited, I thought you'd taken this yourself! Anyway, thanks for showing it, that's magnificent.

THere was nothing to see in Australia. Wrong side of the world...
