Bright Red Trees

These trees are all over Tel Aviv and have a beautiful red/orange flower. Like a flame. If anyone knows what kind of tree it is I'd be glad to hear. I really love this tree.

How the Other Half Live

Here's a photo of a very nice house in my neighbourhood. Not many houses look like this in Israel, I can assure you. This one's really special.

Tree - Close Up

At first glance this just looks like a nice sculpture of a tree in front of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. But enlarge the photo, zoom in and have a closer look. The tree is made up of people. This is art by Zadok Ben-David.

Bridge over Troubled Water

This photo makes me think of that song by Simon and Garfunkel and now I can't get it out of my head! :-) There is actually no water under this bridge. It is a bridge over the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center's car park - but that doesn't have the same ring to it.

Here is another view (the first photo was taken in February) of the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, which is home to the New Israeli Opera Company, the Israeli Ballet and the Cameri Theatre.

Manhole Covers

I had never noticed designs on manhole covers, until I joined the Daily Photo group. Tel Aviv's manhole covers are very boring. But then I found this one in Ramat Gan (suburb of Tel Aviv). Not bad, some nice palm tree designs to show that we're still in Israel. Nearly weekend, yay!!

Traffic Circle

Just to show you what our traffic circles look like over here. Of course they're not all identical. But I have seen loads that have flowers and palm trees/shrubs like this one.

Afternoon Siesta

Cats rule in Tel Aviv. Here's one having an afternoon siesta!

The Love Parade

Today was the annual Tel Aviv Gay Pride Parade. It's an amazing sight to see as there are lots of colourful floats with loads of music and a very festive vibe. Everyone (and his dog) was out there having a party and just having fun.

Another Building

This is another great building in Tel Aviv. I think it's the home of Sotheby's Auction house - but I'll have to find out for sure and let you know.

Cruising Along...

The Shuk (Market)

This is the shuk (market) in Allenby street. The photo was taken during the week, otherwise it would have been too crowded. The market used to have lots of fruit and vegetables but these days it has more clothes than food.

Interesting Architecture

I love this building. It's both Middle Eastern and modern. The bottom part is a restaurant. I'm not sure what the top part is. Probably apartments.

Coca-Cola

I thought it would be interesting to see how the same product is advertised all over the world. Here's our latest Coca-Cola advert (at a bus stop). The slogan reads "love life".
