Another Heat Wave

Click photo to enlarge

As per my post back in February, we're having another "shirav" (heat/dust wave) today. Some of you in colder countries may think that a heatwave would be a nice change - but today temperatures are expected to rise to 39°C . That's a bit much. In the peak of summer it only gets to about 32/33°C. I new I was in trouble this morning when I stepped out at 8.30am and it was already 29°C!! Crazy. So keep watching the Weather Pixie and think of us sweltering over here!!

This photo was taken a few minutes ago. The dark cloud is the sky filled with dust.

It's really hot! And what is this beautiful purple tree on the right?

Alice, that's the Jacaranda in full bloom.

I don't know if he would listen but you should tell President Bush about the heat wave. We have a cool front here today. It is chilly at about 20 degrees above freezing and it was hot yesterday. I think Global Warming has a lot to do with this and our president doesn't think it is a problem.

That is hot! Sounds awful, especially if you have to work or go to school. But to sit in the shadow of that beautiful tree, might be nice..? :)

Lovely to see your city, I'll return to see more.

Greetings from
Oslo, Norway

Wow! I thought you're having a heavy rain!
My sympathy on the subject of extreme heat.

Yes, I think, almost 40 is much too much. Here we had an unusual hot April. It was likes summer and too dry.

You people are crazy ;) lol.. I love the heat.. the winter was way too long and cold and wet... and everyone wanted summer and sun.. now it finally gets warm and people aren't happy with that either ;) lol... I am happy.. 30C and plus.. and I feel like a real Mensch.... enjoyed the chamsin very much and was walking around in Tel Aviv all day long :)

Sounds like a day in the middle of summer here in Sydney, Australia. Humidity is what gets you here though. Is yours more of a dry heat rather than humid?
Love all of your photos! Israel (in fact anywhere around the Mediterranean) is definitely on the travel cards for me. I think that whole area is fascinating - such a rich history.
Take care,
Lana.

Beautiful photo, Mandi.

Where does the dust come from? The desert?

Stay cool.

Wow, it looks sultry. Is the shirav the same as the hamsin?

this is a really nice pic to look at because it shows architecture, weird sky and flowering tree.
