Flavour Raver

It's summer and so frozen yoghurts (and ice cream, of course!) are back in season. This is a selection of fruit, nuts, chocolate and wafers which can be added to your frozen yoghurt. Enjoy!

There is a great paved pathway in Park Leumi and as you can see joggers, walkers and roller bladers really enjoy it.

Park Leumi

The lake at Park Leumi, Ramat Gan (a suburb or Tel Aviv). It was a lovely day to go to the park and feed the ducks. Have a good weekend.

It's Good to be Home

Had a great time in the UK, but it's good to be back! This is a photo I took just before I left of a little girl feeding the pigeons at Rabin Square.

Dizengoff Street

This shot was taken early in the morning. Otherwise Dizengoff Street's (one of the main streest in Tel Aviv city centre) really busy.

Recycling Campaign

Students got together and put all their drink cans and bottles in this big box as a big recycling campaign. It's amazing to think that it's already full!

Gymboree

Click photo to enlarge

This is a Gymboree in the Gan Ha'ir (City Gardens) shopping mall. Gymborees are indoor playgrounds for babies and young children and they are everywhere in Tel Aviv. This photo was taken early in the morning so there weren't too many people there yet. As you can see, dogs aren't allowed to play inside. But this one doesn't seem to mind too much.

Rabin Square

Click photo to enlarge

This square used to be called the Kings of Israel square. Until the famous peace rally of 4 November 1995, where (at the end of the peace rally) Israel's then Prime Minister, Itzhak Rabin, was assassinated by a Jewish extremist. It was then renamed to Rabin Square. Rabin Square is in the heart of Tel Aviv and is still a popular place for political rallies.

I like the olive tree in the middle of the square - a reminder that there is always hope for peace.

Another Heat Wave

Click photo to enlarge

As per my post back in February, we're having another "shirav" (heat/dust wave) today. Some of you in colder countries may think that a heatwave would be a nice change - but today temperatures are expected to rise to 39°C . That's a bit much. In the peak of summer it only gets to about 32/33°C. I new I was in trouble this morning when I stepped out at 8.30am and it was already 29°C!! Crazy. So keep watching the Weather Pixie and think of us sweltering over here!!

This photo was taken a few minutes ago. The dark cloud is the sky filled with dust.

Punx???

Click photo to enlarge

This is graffiti at the Dizengoff fountain. When I saw it I couldn't help laughing though as I totally had a "Life of Brian" moment. There's a scene in Monty Python's "Life of Brian" where he writes "Romans go home" on a wall. Next thing a Roman guard comes out and catches him but instead of shouting at him for telling the Romans to go home the guard starts giving Brian a Latin lesson and showing him that his grammar is incorrect. The guard then demands that Brian rewrite the sentence out 100 times so that he can learn the grammar. It's really funny! And I felt like that Roman guard when I saw this sentence. If I ever catch the little punks....

May Theme Day - City Exchange

Posted by Picasa

This month's theme day is a city exchange. This is a nice break from showing just Tel Aviv. I've chosen to show Caesarea. Caesarea is an ancient city (completed in 12 BCE) built by the Romans and is about an hours drive from Tel Aviv. The above photos are of remains of the ancient Roman aqueduct.

82 Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st May theme, "City Exchange", please use the links below to visit them. Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later if you are viewing early in the day.
