Until the famous peace rally of 4 November 1995, where (at the end of the peace rally) Israel's then Prime Minister, Itzhak Rabin, was assassinated by a Jewish extremist. It was then renamed to Rabin Square. Rabin Square is in the heart of Tel Aviv and is still a popular place for political rallies.
I like the olive tree in the middle of the square - a reminder that there is always hope for peace.
